ABOUT ME AND MY PHILOSOPHY
Personal Profile
Throughout my life, I’ve approached every challenge with enthusiasm, creativity, and ceaseless desire to achieve success. This passion and drive have paved the way to countless opportunities, unique experiences and exceptional relationships both personally and professionally.

I’m currently a stay at home wife and mother, and I’m hoping to translate my passion for education and training into being an instructional designer. I’m interested in this job because I spent thirteen years as a Business and Computer Teacher in secondary education teaching Microsoft Office Applications, and Adobe Creative Suite and many other Business Classes. I taught myself basic web design skills and maintained and updated two school websites. I have a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology where we used Lectora 2006 to create an online learning module as our final project. After my teaching career, I worked as a customer service representative and became a Training Facilitator teaching the client’s apps for Salesforce and SAP in an online work from home position. I recently learned that project management skills would be good to have in an instructional design position so I completed a Google Professional Certificate through Coursera in Project Management to help prepare me for this career transition.
My philosophy of education is that all learners regardless if they are adults or children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where learners can meet their full potential. I will provide a safe environment where learners are invited to share their ideas and take risks.
I believe that there are five essential elements that are conducive to learning. (1) The teacher's role is to act as a guide. (2) Learners must have access to hands-on activities. (3) Learners should be able to have choices and let their curiosity direct their learning. (4) Learners need the opportunity to practice skills in a safe environment. (5) The technology that learners are learning about and using needs to be incorporated into most of the activities that they are learning everyday.

I have served in several local officer positions and am currently my local group's Deputy Seneschal (Vice-President). I have planned many events both at the local and regional level. I have sewn garb (costumes) for a large number of people and usually have one project or another on my plate. I have taught classes on costuming and calligraphy and illumination to teach new scribes how to create award scrolls for the local and regional groups.
